Final and detailed design of structural works
Client: S.E.S.T.O. S.c.a r.l.
Building surface: 13.600 m2
Structural works value: 3.000.000,00 €
Design period: 2006
The work consists of four buildings called “building A – M I P”, “building B – D I G”, “building East” and “building North” separated by structural joints but part of the same building complex.
The first three buildings, of height varying between two and six floors, are made with a r.c. framed structure partly cast in situ and partly prefabricated.
Are cast in situ foundation beams, columns and stair-lift cores that also act as bracing elements, while the floors are made up of semi-precast trussed steel beams and precast hollow-core prestressed r.c. slabs completed by collaborating cast in place concrete.
The “building A – M I P” and the “building B – D I G” are connected at the various floors with composite steel and concrete decks
Instead, the North building is made of a steel main structure, precast perstressed hollow core slabs completed with cast in place collaborating concrete, vaulted roof made of lightweight structural concrete and cast in place concrete foundation beams.
The foundation soil, with poor mechanical characteristics up to 4.0 – 4.5 m from the ground level, has been replaced with a gravel and sand mixture, rolled and compacted for successive layers until the required mechanical characteristics are achieved.
