“The new spa of Milan” – Former “De Montel” stables – Milano (MI) – Italy
Preliminary and final design of structural works
Client: Consorzio Stabile S.p.A.
Structural works value: 4.100.000,00 €
Design period: 2006
A new spa has been designed in the area of the former De Montel stables.
The project involved the complete refurbishment of existing buildings: an Art Nouveau building and the former stables dating back to the ’20s.
The existing structures are part of wood, part of masonry and part of reinforced concrete.
After a complete survey campaign for the characterization of materials and their state of conservation and degradation, the restoration and consolidation design of the structures has been carry out.
Moreover, a new building for services and curative activities has also been designed, partly underground with a reinforced concrete structure, and partly above ground with structures in steel and glued laminated timber.
