The structure of the industrial building, entirely prefabricated, is composed of columns arranged with a mesh of about 12 x18 m, prestressed double slope roofing beams of net span of 17.67 m, secondary beams of net span equal to 11.50 m and TT roofing elements of span equal to 12.00 m.

The useful height under beam is about 8 m while the overall height of the building is 10.65 m.

Adjacent to this building there is also a offices building in reinforced concrete cast in place.

Subjected to a seismic vulnerability assessment, the structures showed a very low level of safety.

Therefore, in agreement with the Customer, the retrofitting design of the structures was carried out with the achievement of a capacity equal to 60% of the seismic design action for a new construction.

The result was obtained by strengthening the weaker structural elements (mainly the columns) with carbon fiber fabric and placing at the construction joints, of inadequate dimensions, dynamic restraining devices (shock transmitters units).
